The Boreal Caribou Protection and Recovery Plan (BCPRP) Management Zones (CARIBOU_MGMT_ZONES_PY) geographic dataset was created to support planning, engagement and management in the heard and habitat recovery of the Boreal Caribou (1)s.

There are four (4) management zones (MGMT_ZONE) that include MGMT Type 1: Full Protection – Core, MGMT Type 2: Full Protection Forestry; Conditional Petroleum & Natural Gas – Core, MGMT Type 3: Conditional Forestry; Conditional Petroleum & Natural Gas – Core and MGMT Type 4: Conditional Development – Matrix.

The first layer, Boreal Caribou Protection and Recovery Plan Management Zone, consists of all 4 management zones as established through the BCPRP. The second layer, BCPRP Caribou Protection - Type 1, represents the current management zones that have established implementation agreements.

The following table, extracted from Boreal Caribou Protection and Recovery Plan (2002)1, describes the intent and measures for each of the management types.
